A Rose . . . A Stallion

For Tynes and Ka Abe

A rose is a beauty so dainty,
while a stallion is a power so sturdy.

As it is caressed by the wind, a rose sways;
a stallion gallops with the swift wind it hears.

A rose gives joy and comfort;
a stallion to man’s labor has worth.

A rose and a stallion . . . by just living their essence,
by just being what they are . . . are free . . .
free to make the earth happy.
