DUALISM

SUMMER precedes abundant RAINS.
JOY of new life follows childbirth PAINS.

YOUTH ushers in the AGE OF WISDOM.
In SLAVERY, one treasures FREEDOM.

SUCCESS has no meaning without a FALL.
BIG things are not when nothing’s SMALL.

DARK hours are what make dawn’s LIGHT grand.
STUMBLING shows how to firmly STAND.

“NOW” cannot be without PAST.
Without a FIRST, there is no LAST.

Without its thorns, a rose isn’t as red.
When LAUGHTER is void, no TEARS to shed,

PURPLE one knows as he sees YELLOW.
“To know” is nil when all do know.

BEAUTY exists as UGLINESS does.
Poor is one man as another as much.

HUMBLE’s on not when no one’s PROUD.
A seed is buried for buds to sprout.

JOY is where the ends of SORROWS lie.
FOR ONE TO LIVE . . . HE FIRST MUST DIE.
